Infosys: Combating Drone Misuse and Ensuring Compliance

The importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or simply - drones, in various industries and government functions has drawn worldwide interest in the recent times, especially since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Technology leaders and innovators have been constantly trying to solve complex issues such as - overcoming the limited flight endurance and payload capability of drones, developing an integrated traffic management system; and shaping up the aviation related regulations to facilitate drone flights in the city airspace. Drones have several other utilities that are being explored currently. With the use of drones increasing, safeguarding against data misuse and other risks associated with it, are equally important for an accelerated adoption of the technology.

In this paper, we will attempt to look at the various risks faced by the drone ecosystem and explore ways of effective risk detection. We will also explore a set of sample controls required for effective and real-time decision making.
