Analysys Mason: Beyond the Digital Facade

This white paper examines the transition from CSP to DSP and looks at the inherent strengths of the CSP when adapting itself to the digital economy. It outlines the key role that real-time policy and charging plays in the transition to DSP.

Communications service providers (CSPs) today face unacceptably low growth rates and decreasing margins. They are engaged in a great ‘data monetisation’ transition from depending on voice services, where margins were traditionally large and competition was low, to depending on data services, where the competition from OTT players is fierce and margins are lower. To maintain their market share, and even grow, requires that the CSPs of today transform into digital service providers (DSPs), providing traditional and new services in new ways.
