Cable Operators Ride the Digital Wave to New Revenue Streams

Cable MSOs have enjoyed exclusivity in many markets for years, but that’s all changing in a pay TV market that’s expected to grow to almost $400 billion by 2017.

As they come up against significant competitive threats, many cable operators have decided to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the competition by partnering with OTT players in order to remain relevant. This two-way street also gives OTTs access to cable operators’ large subscriber base, expertise in back-office functions and extensive infrastructure. And to ensure these partnerships run smoothly, robust platforms will be required for revenue sharing, settlements, product catalog and more.
