Professional Background/Education eg. BSS/OSS
During the last twelve years, I have been active in most of the areas of software testing and requirements analysis in
telco and related environments. Prior to this, I performed analysis and development in the financial and business areas
of a very large aerospace company for thirteen years and a large supplier of food to super-stores for six years.
I am accustomed to and I have the ability to adapt quickly to very different environments and technologies.
In future roles I would like to gain more experience of test team start-up, team mentoring and team leadership.
For example, performing the function of a test manager/leader, or assisting with the writing of test plans or with the r>scheduling of tasks and resources, etc.
An aspect of my work that I have a talent for and that I find rewarding, is keeping people (including myself) and teams
(internal and external) working in concert toward common goals. I enjoy building relationships with people at all levels.
However management/lead work is not essential for future roles, as I am also accustomed to working as part of a
>team as an engineer or test analyst. This gives me the opportunity to gain more hands on experience.
In the telecoms environment, I have acquired experience of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), VOIP (Voice Over
>IP) and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which are necessary for LTE (Long Term Evolution) as specified by 3GPP (3rd
Generation Partnership Project). LTE is a stepping stone to 4G (4th Generation). I have also been studying the telecoms
technologies planned for LTE and other technologies such as media and broadcasting (MPEG, etc.).
>Closely related to telecoms, I have recently been gaining experience of applications that are specifically designed for
downloading and installing onto mobile devices. Industries as diverse as finance, media and fashion are all developing and
>enhancing these “apps” for their cutomers to use on their Blackberry’s, iPhones and all the other PDA’s, smartphones, etc.
