Customer Management and Billing
As Principal Software Architect, Thomas has helped carriers determine their technical direction and strategy for more than 25 years.
Thomas has designed, developed, implemented and integrated major enterprise software solutions for telecom, media and content companies.
<br>Beginning in 1985, Thomas was one of "three guys in Cellular One's mail room," who as Appex Inc. developed one of the first product-based telco billing solutions targeted at the emerging analog cellular carriers in the US. In the process of developing this billing solution, Appex pioneered automating activations through data communication with the mobile switches (before HLRs). These data connections provided the basis for Appex's PRV, an inter-city/intercarrier roamer validation service (before inter-vendor signalling) which positioned Appex to
>introduce the first intercarrier roaming clearinghouse. Appex was acquired in 1989 by EDS and with EDS Thomas went on to contribute to BSS projects for Tier 1 carriers and service providers in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Self-employed for the last 15 years as CommonSense, he has worked in all phases of IT projects from vendor evaluation/selection through implementation, integration and conversion based around Portal Infranet/Oracle BRM, Kenan Arbor, Amdocs and Convergys.
Thomas studied Mathematics at Kenyon College and is a graduate of Case Western Reserve's Weatherhead School of Management with a degree in Accounting.
>He began his career as an Auditor/IT Consultant for Andersen Consulting. He currently lives in the US, but has worked and has ties in Australia, Hong Kong, the UK and Germany.
