This week we interview Rogier van der Wal, Vice President Cloud Services, Ipanema Technologies,  one of the Judges for the Datacloud Awards, in the Cloud Industry Leader Category.

Category: Cloud Industry Leader

General description:

Cloud infrastructure service offerings are at the heart of premium growth within the European managed services industry.

The judges are looking to identify a business that is a leading, innovative service provider of cloud infrastructure offerings delivered from and to European markets (which of course includes European providers who also address global markets, and global providers with significant European presence).

All nominees must have commercial services deployed in production by end-user organisations before the closing date for submissions.

This will include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and may combine network, connectivity, Universal Collaboration (UC) offerings but will exclude pure Software as a Service (SaaS) application providers.

Key Assessment Criteria:

Quantitative scores out of 5 possible points (5 highest) per criteria

Submissions for this award will be judged on:

Innovation in the service offering which may span any or all of: technology, process, service delivery or quality dimensions

Differentiation from competitors with clear proof points

Proof of business benefits of your offering illustrated by customer case studies

European nature of the offering such as compliance with EU or national standards and regulation, physical footprint in Europe, localisation and service support

Rogier van der Wal gives his opinion about these prestigious Awards that provide exceptional marketing differentiation for both winners and runners up and are recognized as the premier industry accolade across Europe and internationally.

Who should enter for Datacloud Awards & why?

In a world where US cloud services have become predominant, it is important to demonstrate the capability of the old european continent with regards to innovation in the cloud. Whether this concerns companies adding US cloud services to enable their cloud IP, or pure cloud players, their efforts should be rewarded and allow them to stand out fo the crowd.

What are you most looking forward to as a judge?

To be delighted by surprise through innovation and business models that put the customer experience first. What I'm particularly interested in, is the case where a vendor with a classical business model based on CapEx and on-premises deployments, made a successful transition to the cloud.

Why do you feel industry awards are important to businesses?

Industry awards allow vendors to get impartial peer recognition, and allow companies currently considering a move to the cloud, guidance in the broad choice of cloud services today.

As the head of the cloud services business unit, Rogier's thought leadership infuses the company's cloud services vision, and strategy with the responsibilities of worldwide Go To Market, service definition, build, operate, support as well as sales and marketing. As a result, Ipanema has launched AppsWork, making the benefits of Ipanema Technologies' enterprise solutions available to the mid-market as an easy to consume service, through a network of certified channel partners.
