Seems the Disney corporation hasn't been put off the wireless sector entirely by its failed MVNO effort. The firm's teaming with NTT DoCoMo to launch a range of branded smartphones in Japan.
If I remember my Japanese vendor designations correctly, the first two units - both Android - are being made by Fujitsu and Panasonic.
The devices will offer access to Disney's full-length animated movies, live action and overseas dramas (cue lots of teenage LA voices in Tokyo!) digital content, and on-site promotions at the Tokyo Disney Resort.
Will it work? I mean, if Disney failed as an MVNO, what's so much better about a smartphone collaboration? Likely good for the device vendors themselves though - offering a boost to overall shipment figures.
