The tie-up of Orange and T-Mobile's UK assets has brought my mobile coverage up to date. I'm a Virgin Mobile customer, which uses T-Mo's network, but due to the collaboration I can now access Orange's networks in areas where T-Mo's coverage is weak.
That meant I was contactable during Christmas at my sister's house in rural Scotland. Slightly freaky, but definitely a sign of progress.
Now, if only I could conduct a phone call on the 50-min train ride from London to home without the signal dropping three times.
