you know (I know) from your wealth of experience that most OSS and particularily BSS is
1. implemented buttom up, driving key Business processes. Hence why processes like getting a new product defined (not price plan) is resource demanding, takes time and is costly. Also, in post pay number of days outstanding is 60-80 days.
2. companies have between 5 and 100 systems that duplicated functions and processes.
3. Most mergers are between companies with the same business models, having implemented their systems the same way.
Get out your calculator and calculate how many engineers to what cost and over what time is needed to cater for OTT products and services.
And at the same time look at what happened when the airline industry went on the same merge spree i.e. Sabena, Swissair, is a very good example.
I say, keep thing as they are is a very high risk option.
