GSM Association claims high levels of competition and availability of multiple consumer tariffs in Europe fueled price falls of 11% to 13% between 2006 and 2010, and that the drop is the largest of any industry in the region over that timeframe.
Multiple accounts are still the order of the day, with 656 million SIMs active at end-2010 from 456 million subscribers. Total penetration hit 128% compared to 100% in Japan and 104% US.
All of which will be useless as I return to Scotland for the festive period, and enjoy the bliss of little or no mobile signal.
