I've just read about a public data system in Thailand called OpenCare that isn't being fully utilized to help the country co-ordinate relief efforts in the wake of severe flooding.
The system is based on Emergency Data Exchange Language standards and aims to provide 'clean' data by only utilizing verifiable sources.
I've never heard of these standards, so can't assess whether its a good or bad thing OpenCare isn't being widely used at present. Views appreciated.
