I have been contracting offshore since 1999 and while I have found it a bit strange to be on my own in a strange country if you are willing to get out and about and talk to people it does make your life easier.
I have been in the telecomm industry since 1988, first working for Vodafone, then Motorola in the uk and from 1992 to 1999 for Motorola internationally until I quit and went contracting.
I have been to many countries and found that there is a lot ot be said for contracting and a lot also for being an employee. At least as an employee I was not subject to a short notice to quit as I was in my last job in Papua New Guinea but as a contractor living in one country, working in a second and being paid by a third makes life interesting to say the least.
I have noticed that over the last 9 years rates have been going down to the point where some guys I know are seriusly considering quitting the business.
